Does anyone know if there is a planned seminar for next year? Haven't been able to attend in the past and would love to go to one.

Still an annual event held at the Powell range about the middle of June. Contact person these days is Ken Rich as John has stepped back from the organizing. It’s a great time with great people, a place to meet and make friends with like minded six gunners.

I’ve heard about this. What exactly goes on at this event? Any information about it online?

I'd be interested in hearing a bit on the details about these seminars and what goes on as well. Talking about a trip through Montana & Wyoming next summer and may schedule around the seminar dates if it would work into our plans.

I went to three or so of them back when he used to host them in various locations. There was usually some Q&A where John would talk about all things sixguns; Customizing, safety margins of various cartridges in different guns, powder, bullets, penetration, people he's known, The history of 45+ handgun rounds, pros and cons of various guns, grips, barrel lengths etc. We did some penetration testing in wet newspaper than spent the afternoon shooting at targets from up close out to several hundred yards. Back at the hotel after dinner we'd gather out in the parking lot and talk guns until it was time for bed. Don't know the schedule these days, but It would probably be worth checking out. After the first one I went to I went every year until John stopped doing it.

The early days of the “ seminar “ with all the penetration testing and so on have faded away. Now it’s more of a annual six gun reunion where everyone gathers and does a lot of visiting and shooting. The Powell range has steel set all the way to 1000yds, near endless target opportunities to plink away at. The evenings are filled with more talk of six guns, past , present and future builds, guns of all shapes and sizes. People show up from all corners of the country, days of driving for some. The shooting is great but it’s all about the people and great friends made, dedicated six gunners are a pretty small crowd and it’s sure nice to meet them in person. I think we need this type of annual gathering for this Single Actions crowd, shake some hands and put some faces to names.
