It seems ludicrous to ask, given all the options you’ve blessed us with, but I’m wondering if Bisley and #5 grip frames can be ordered specifically for use with the Power Custom NM bisley hammer. It would be nice to not have the huge gap behind the trigger when it is down. Some gap seems unavoidable, though. I will be ordering Aluminum versions of both regardless.

Hey Bud That is a good point to make. I have actually done that on the old Model bisley to eliminate that gap. Mainly because the only Hammer available to me was the beautiful Powers Custom. And it did not have the larger rounded Back Bisley hammer from Ruger for the new model only! Therefore the additional 3/16s gap was not necessary. It was a little tricky to do because you need room for the hammer spring and Hammer push Rod. And you need the angle back in the hammer groove of the grip frame so the hammer will go back far enough to cock! I will see if we can do it on a new model for you! If it works out, we will make it an option. I am going to talk to someone at powers custom and see if we cant instigate some optional hammers and triggers real soon for these bad mambojahambas. New And Old. If i cant spark some interest. Im going to break out this Charmilles and Fanuc E.D.M. machines i have sitting in the corner.

So Ronnie , in the sprit of getting the parts ready and on tap how about some "splainin" on the Thunderer grip > Will that be standard or Bisley trigger guard , hammer and trigger ? Give me a bit Needsmostuff! And i will get that together for you. With some pics. The Lightning will Use a Bisley Trigger and either hammer but will look more accurate with a Montado hammer. Thunderer and Omnipotent will also use the Bisley trigger however will look more accurate with a Bisley Hammer Power Custom Style. The Trigger guard will look just like Colt Lightning.

Hey Fellas. Something else we need to point out. Every once in a while i run in to a stubborn frame that needs a little love around the alignment boss location at the base of the frame near the front , Lower Mounting Screw! You will notice the frame on the left has a nice radius and will allow an easy fitment, However the frame on the right has a rather random radius that has a protrusion that might give you some trouble. I have found on a lot of the single six frames, That they need a lot more attention to this area. I have seen the groove or slot to be shorter than most of the standard Black Hawks. However it is a simple cleanup operation with an 1/8 inch flat bottom dremel bit and a little patience. The next picture will point out the grip frame boss or alignment protrusion that the front mounting screw goes thru. The side of the boss should be fairly snug along the sides of the groove cut in the bottom of the Gun frame. You may have to tickle the side of the Grip frame alignment boss to get a perfect fit but i strongly suggest to keep it as snug as possible so as to not have side play! If it is real loose the Grip frame might shift a smidge, left or right. I also do not cut the front radius of the grip frame so you retain as much material around the screw hole as possible. Remember, on the other side of that boss is a countersink hole so the screw head can sit flush with the Grip frame. If the frame has a shorter groove, i remove material from the frame instead. The frame is a high quality 4140 steel and removing a small amount of material here will not compromise the frames strength! If you Cut the front radius of the Grip frame you take a chance on cutting in to the screw countersink in the Grip frame. Hope that Makes it a little easier!

Like I said, I’ll be a paying customer regardless. By the way, several years ago I asked Randal Power if he would make me an aluminum NM XR3 and/or an aluminum Keith #5 grip frames. He told me that I would need to spend about $5,000 for an entire run of them. Needless to say, your grip frames are a dream come true to most of the Ruger single action community! I love shooting Ruger single actions, but I love carrying them when kicking around the Colorado hills, as well. Lightweight grip frames make a huge difference!
