We can use revolvers of .30 caliber, 4" barrel, 500 flotus pound energy. We cannot use rifles- even straight walled cartridges.

Congratulations. I hope your doe hunt goes just as well. I went to college in Cincinnati, in the days ( not so long ago) when it was a "slug only" state. It was not long after I graduated and left that Ohio followed in the steps of Indiana and went to straight wall cartridges, then to rifle cartridges if shot from a handgun, and so on and so on. I do not recall the actual progression, but it did not escape me that they waited until I was gone before allowing more than a slug gun into the deer woods. That not so long ago was back in the 80's, the same year Ruger introduced the Redhawk, I had one of the first and traveled the tri-state region checking with every gun shop trying to buy one, had a NEI mold for a 320 grain bullet sold by our very own J.D. Jones cast and waiting before I ever got my hands on the gun. But that fall within two hours of opening morning I had a 4 point doe on the ground. I made about a 40 yard shot on the deer when I jumped her in a grass field headed for a thicket. I seen it was missing one side, but back then doe tags were by drawing only, and first year for a handgun a buck was all I cared about to bleed my new DA! When I rolled her over and seen no balls? I checked her rack and seen one side of her head was bald, never had a rack, and the opposite side was perfect uniform 4 points counting the G1. Me and my buddy both thought,,, what do we do no doe tags? Tiik us a while to realize why our buck tags were actually called, "ANTLERED DEER LICENSE". Not trying to make ya feel old there Brunston,,,, but thats been a while ago! No apology necessary; I’m only 33. Somewhere there are some wires crossed because the whole time I lived there it was slug only. Either the game department had it wrong, or I dramatically misunderstood and cheated myself out of several years of straight wall cartridge hunting.
