Bet that one goes high. I don't need another .44 Special, but I'm very tempted to throw a bid in, anyway. I know it would help John out.

Awright, you two. I can't let you bid without me.
I usually am reluctant to run the bid up on a forum member unless I really want something. However, in this case, it is for a cause greater than the "I wants."

John was just waiting on the ammo to arrive before he listed that package. I would be all over it except the second of those last two flat top 44 Special conversions lands here tomorrow. I may still toss a bid in just to try and help out.

No one bidding on that gun from this board would ever consider it “running up the bid” on this gun for John.

That description is a heartbreaker.... It really strikes me how we are on the back edge of the golden age of revolver smithing. Don't get me wrong - there could be a new crop of younger guys looking to fill the shoes of the legends, but we are within spitting distance of not being able to order from the likes of Bowen, Clements, Gallagher, Huntington, Harton, Linebaugh, etc. Not meaning to leave anyone out, and those names were in no particular order. Five years from now, who will have passed on or retired? I've never owned one of John Gallagher's customs. Maybe this should be the one.

Steve is right. While there will hopefully be folks continuing to do this type of work in the future, I doubt that we will ever see the number of folks like he mentioned plying their craft again. It makes the pieces of metal artistry we each own that much more special.

This would be THE Gallagher to own. Truly one of the last ones built by his hands. I’d love to have it for sure.

I'm out on this one. Since this guns twin is on its way I was just going for the knife and leather!
