Are there 3 screws on the other side of the revolver? Yes

The hex screw and having the frame not having the original caliber removed certainly makes it an early one. I'm guessing it predates the availability of stainless bisley parts. I'm wondering if your gripframe, hammer and trigger are plated. Also looks like yours might have a trigger overtravel stop. Is there a set screw in that hole in the breach face?

As was mentioned before, early ones marked 500 magnum, later ones 500 linebaugh. later guns had cylinder cut for recessed case heads. Early guns had bolt block retained by hex screw, later ones used standard screw. also looks like yours was made when he was using ruger basepins. Me too

I think I had Linebaugh turn one into a 500. I'll check the ruger site and see when it was made.

I think John L has been having stainless parts made before they were a cataloged item as well. So he could have used some of those parts possibly?

I had John's personal stainless Vaquero for a while....got it from Chuck (barely)!
It for sure had a Linebaugh custom SS bisley hammer on it but no idea what year it was made.
