Tactical Solutions, Magnum Research, Kidd, and Volquartsen took the 10/22 platform and stepped it up. Looks like more money until you replace 100% of the parts in your Ruger. Barrel, trigger, stock, bolt, etc... I've got a $200 Kidd trigger in my Magnum Research gun.

Was surprised back in "the day" when my poor ass bucked hay all summer a for $65 Marlin Model 60 and it shot rings around an "affluent" friends 10/22. I bought a 10/22 back in the early 90's. About $200 worth of stuff later and it could finally hang with my Grandpas Remington 541.

The ninjas rant and rave about their 10/22 accuracy but go to a BR50 or a smallbore prone match and count the ones that win. Doesn't mean that the 10/22 won't shoot just means that they won't shoot with a true target 22. Conversely go to a speed steel match and count the bolt guns. To clear the air the simple solution is that we need BOTH! Bolt guns with big scopes and 10/22s with red dots!

Had more than a couple however that just stopped working. One day, they just wouldn't feed right and nothing seemed to work except replacing it. Still, at half the price of the 10/22 it wasn't a big deal.
I bought more than a couple of 10/22's for cheap from folks who complained about them. In all cases the barrel block had come loose. Cinching up the allen head screws did the trick.

Seems like you have to put money into a 10-22 to make it shoot as well as a Model 60 or 795, out of the box. I've got a Weaver 2.5-7x28 on a 60DLX that will shoot the staples out of the target at 25yds. When it wore Tech Sights, it did pretty well at rimfire steels matches, too. I switched to a 795 when I got tired of being heckled with 'tube feeder!'. Lol! 795 worked just as well at making that steel sing.
I don't hate on 10-22s. I've never even shot one. With the exception of 2 CZs (long gone), the only rimfire rifles I've owned have been Marlins. They shoot so well for my purposes that I never felt the need to spend $$$ on a project gun.

First gun I was given is a Ted Williams that is a Marlin 60 now that I look things up, thanks dmize. Bula, you'll have fun. Be careful, there's a lot of parts out there. The double ten magazines are awesome. Axe who makes those?
