I know I'll get stoned like Stephen in the bible for this but I've just never been one to fall in love with the 357 magnum. Beautiful gun but I KNOW I'd mess up ans send it off to become something different.

Nice gun but,,,,,,, Nothing rare at all about a 5" 27-2. A 4" 27-2 is much harder to find.

Kings6, Let him without sin cast the first stone. I have my own prejudices, so I'm having a problem finding a rock I'm comfortable with On the other hand, thank you for this opportunity. A dismissive remark about the 357 magnum can't go unanswered. It's kinda like saying you don't like brunettes. There's a lot out there to pick from and I can't believe you can't find one that winds your clock, floats your boat. The real question I have for you, is the lack of love for the gun or the caliber? There's been a lot of 357 handguns that I don't particularly care for. Too short, too ugly, too ... But the caliber is at the top of the versatility pyramid. Mild 38 specials to fire breathing 357 MAGNUMS. Bullets from 110gr to 200gr. Availability and price make it an outstanding choice. So splain it to me. PLEASE

I love the gun, I have a model 58 converted to a 5” 45 Colt and a 4” model 38 conversion to 41 Special comes home this week. I’ve just never been jazzed about the 38/357 family even though my first handgun deer kill was with an old Smith 38 Special. My interest jumps from the 32s right up to the 40s. I DO have a Kahr 9 if that helps!😀

Mine became a 44 Special thanks to Mr. Stroh.

I'll back you up... while at one time, I had like 6 - 357 magnums, & my 1st revolver was a stainless 4" Gp-100... I'm not a huge fan of the 357... maybe because I'm kind of a "specialist" type person... when I competed with ATV's I had a dozen or so sets of tires... often having that perfect set of rubber for each type of competition meant the difference between 1st place, & middle of the pack... the reason I bought my GP-100, was my FIL had any caliber of gun if I needed to borrow something specific... the GP-100 in 357 Magnum as I bought was capable of doing nearly anything from a range toy, to self defense, to legal for deer hunting... but there were better options for all of those... it was a "one gun" to do it all type gun & borrow something if I needed something more specific... thank God i'm not stuck with just one gun... if I were it would be that 4" 357 Magnum there is a valid argument on the various ammos... I got very dismal results shooting possums COM using 158 grain bullets, & yet the 110 grains seemed to plant them right there with the same shots... point of aim gets funky playing between 110 grains & 180 - 200 grains I'm getting my 1st revolver back from Dave Clements any day now... shorter barrel, 10 mm rimmed caliber, with a specific intended use... BTW... I love the looks of that revolver & expect it will end up at more money... if I were buying, it would be because it's a beautiful gun, not for the caliber... I'd probably not change the caliber though, as I still have a lot of 357 ammo

Indeed. Those stocks were an easy $150 by themselves. Glad I didn't see it until it had closed.

Thanks for the caliber discussion, guys.
I am a handloader and that has brought me to the "Don't really care crowd." I can pretty much make any caliber do what I want.
My history is with the 357/38, but I'm currently chasing the .32's all over the place. I really enjoy the versatility of the .32's. And then there is the mighty 44's and 45's. Mild to Wild and everything in between.
I sometimes have a hard time understanding the real world difference between the caliber designations. They all use light and/or heavy. They all go slow or fast. They all make holes.

Personally, I still love the 357 Magnum and always have, but then again I'm kind of a simpleton 🙂 I enjoy reading about and occasionally shooting some of the more exotic calibers although in my own stable there's nothing more exotic than 41 magnum or 45 Colt. I often ponder the thought of 480 Ruger, 500 jrh, 10 mm Magnum, 327 mag etc, and come back around asking myself what will these do that my 357, 41, 44,45's don't do?? As someone who shoots primarily paper for entertainment, the more basic calibers suit me just fine I guess. Every now and then I go back and read Skeeter's ode to the 357, smile to myself and know that I'm in good company 🙂

Cubrock sold me a flat top Ruger 357 a few years back and that's all it will ever be.

Had a couple just like it. Sold the last one, and now have two Colts. Trooper Mk V and Border Patrol, both good shooters.

Fan of the .357.358 bore here. Own and shoot J/K/L/N frame S&W revolvers.

I HAVE PLENTY OF 357 MAG REVOLVERS, AND AS GREAT AS A 357 REVOLVER CAN BE, MINE, EXCEPT FOR A PRACTICE FA 353, RARELY GET SHOT OR CARRIED, HARD FOR A 357 TO COMPETE WITH A GOOD 45 COLT FOR FIELD CARRY TIME.
