Picked up a set of Altamont aged "Ivory" grips for a New Vaquero off eBay recently, after some thought I decided to try them out on this nifty little Micro sighted Single-Six that I picked up last Fall. After filing in bevels for the ramps at the top of the grip frame as well as a little alteration to the pin holes, I found that they fit PERFECTLY! So, I decide to go all out & add some proper Black Eagle medallions as well as blued steel grip ferrules. I'm quite happy with the results...Now the search for a worthy shuck begins!

GOOD LUCK WITH THE HOLSTER SEARCH, WITH THOSE SIGHTS YOU MAY NEED TO GET A BLACKHAWK HOLSTER WITH A HAMMER THONG

Holy cow! I just got the same grips this week for my S7 octagon project. And some SR1911 medallions.
how hard was it to get the original medallions out?
Lookin good!

Frank, you'll notice that the Lone Star medallions are held in place with some Silicone adhesive, I just dug it out of the pilot hole with a drill bit & sprayed WD-40 down inside to dissolve the Silicone...After it soaked in for about an hour they punched right out quite easily.

Looks like those grips were made for that one. Well chosen.

Nice. You made me study it closely. I first thought the serial number began with a 3,,, then saw it was a 9. If it'd been a 3,, it would have been originally a Flatgate.
Little custom features,, and I bet it shoots quite well. It still has the tighter bore diameter over the convertibles.

This one was originally a Flatgate & dates to 1956, it's been wearing a Premier loading gate for most of it's existence I'm assuming. And, YES it is quite an accurate shooting little Ruger...As are most all of the pre-Magnum's that I've tested out of my Ransom.

So,, I was wrong about the serial number. Originally a Flatgate. I'd say it got converted many years ago with the sights & loading gate.
