just like it sounds, thought it would be cool to see some before & after pictures of some of you guys projects... I'll go through some of pictures of mine & see if I can start off... only one I can think of right now, is my S&W #2 that is my avatar... but maybe I'll find a couple more... looking to see your ugly ducklings turned into beautiful pieces of steel... maybe a few details... this is a S&W #2 that someone had chopped the barrel on, & it was wearing a pair of J Frame wood grips when I bought it... it was carried more than shot, as the internals are all good... it is, & was chambered in 38 S&W... modifications were all cosmetic, stripping the mostly worn nickel, high polish blued with gold plated hammer & trigger, & gold filled "38 S&W" caliber designation engraved into the side plate... the beautiful & perfect vintage S&W medallion Pearl grips came from South America, & cost me more than the gun did ( which is not necessarily surprising, as ugly as the before picture is ) S&W #2... Before... S&W #2... After...

Here is a Ruger Three Screw Blackhawk .357 Magnum I bought from an individual several years ago: Removed transfer bar assembly, added steel grip frame (from a Ruger Old Army) and cam cut steel ejector housing with crescent head ejector rod, case harden frame, wood grips from CaryC, and converted to .44 Special: Work by Dave Clements, case color by Doug Turnbull. And, .45 Colt New Model Blackhawk, fitted with .45 ACP cylinder, steel ejector assembly, Super Blackhawk grip frame, and color case hardened: Replaced SBH grip frame with Steel grip frame, and stag grips by Pat Grashorn: Bob Wright

I haven't had any guns sent out to be worked on by other smiths but I did do one of my own. My model 64-5 DAO 38 special. Now it's a three inch .357 magnum It took a lot of tweaking but I couldn't have learned more any other way. I am super happy with the way it came out. It got a new hammer, trigger, cylinder, barrel, ejector rod and cylinder release. edit - Oh and two aftermarket parts reside in this. A power custom oversized cylinder stop and a 14# rebound spring.

I'll play- Taurus Model 85 .38 Special before and after Barrel and hammer bobbed, grip-frame shortened, custom grip, right-side front of trigger-guard relieved for faster trigger access, maybe another thing or two I've forgotten... oh, and holster-wear from being carried in a pocket holster.

Close enough to add this one, will change out the after picture, after it gets new grips... 22 CCM, started as a new stock 32 H&R Magnum Bisley Single Six... now wears a Fermin King's replica mirrored front sight, & John Powers made it into an 8 shot 22 CCM cylinder fit a new 22 caliber barrel, case colored the frame, hammer & loading gate, & reblued the rest of the parts...
