Top: My first Australian Water Buffalo, shot at 35 yds, with a Contender in .375 JDJ, in the Northern Territory. The next year, the N.T. outlawed the import of handguns for hunting, so this is the last one so taken. Lynn Thompson of Cold Steel, has subsequently taken Australian buff with handguns, but although I've never asked him, they may have been taken with guns already in the country, owned by the outfitter. My second Australian Water Buffalo, shot at about 55 yards in a mostly dry billabong after a day of hunting scrub bulls and buffalo: Water Buffalo shot in Argentina at about 80 yards with 9" FA .475 Linebaugh: Himalayan Yak, shot with .45-70 Contender: My first North American Bison, shot in Nebraska, at 87 yards with 9" FA .475 Linebaugh: 3-4 year old bull, shot for the excellent meat with a .500 Wyoming Express. This one was shot the day after I darn near drowned when a bridge collapsed as Wayne Braun and I were crossing it on a four wheeler on our way to the hunting area. Long story that's been previously written up in a couple of publications Excellent bull, 1 shot at 55 yds. with a FA 6" octagon barrel 500 Wyoming Express in a heavy Nebraska snow: My first Cape Buffalo, shot in Tanzania near the Ruaha River, where Ruark hunted in the '50's. In Tanzania, handgun hunting was not permitted, and probably still isn't. Shot at about 100yds. after an all- day stalk following and in and around a herd of about 600 buff. 1 shot kill, using a .416 Rem. Mag. from Remington's Custom Shop: Second Tanzanian Cape Buffalo, shot in the highlands of Tanzania, at about 55 yds. with a Rem. Custom Shop .416 Rem Mag. He headed deep into the long grass, then turned in a loop on his back trail, waiting for us. Luckily, we cut a wider loop and didn't follow his trail, coming up behind him . He was dead when we approached him: Not what you expected? Bull Hippo shot at a pool not too far from the Ruaha River, with 1 brain shot from a .416 Rem. Mag.:

Nice Trophies! I talked to Lynn Thompson about his Australia hunts and the revolvers he used there belonged to the outfitter but Lynn may have helped him secure them.

Great memories indeed, Bushog! Good to reflect back on, in my much-used senior status! Yep, there is much more to come, but I'm trying not to be too much of a forum-hog ....

Those are great! Hippo is high up on my bucket list. A hippo european mount reminds you they're unique in the animal kingdom. Maybe in my lifetime there'll be hunting of Colombian hippos.

Really great photo's Ken, you've had some great hunts. Some I've heard you talk about in the old Sixgunner but it's always great to see them in color & go along on the many, many places you've been. Keep them coming buddy, it never gets old. I know we didn't cross any bridges when we were on the 4 wheeler but I will say you shoot better than you drive....... think you ran over my gun box, or maybe I was driving!

Look at Ken taking care of the big game before it was cool... are those the kind of pictures you gotta shake to develop? I read about those one time...

I don't know anything about pictures you had to shake to develop. I probably couldn't afford a camera back then. Are you sure you're not thinking about ice cream sodas?

Ken, I'd say "forum bull" not hog! LOL Keep'em coming, brother! I'm living vicariously through your hunts. Some very nice trophies by-the-way. Those Australian Water Buffalo are especially impressive.
