FACTORY REDHAWK GRIPS REMIND ME OF THE MAGNA GRIPS FOR S&W N FRAMES. I DO NOT SHOOT HEAVY KICKERS WELL IN REDHAWKS WITH REGULAR FACTORY GRIPS. BIG PACHMAYRS SUIT ME WELL BUT ARE NOT VERY PRETTY. SO DOES ANY ONE MAKE NICE "TARGET" GRIPS FOR REDHAWKS?

Not so pretty but wonderfully functional are the Pachmayr presentation grips.
Nill makes great grips for the Redhawk too for about $150.
Both do much better at handling recoil and easing the abuse to the shooter.

BLUMAGNUM's WEBSITE DOES NOT LIST REDHAWK GRIPS, MAYBE THEY DO CUSTOMS. THE NILL GRIPS LOOK TARGET STYLE SIZE BUT FOR LOOKS I PREFER NOT TO HAVE THE FINGER GROOVES. AFTER A LOT OF GOOGLING, I FOUND THAT EAGLE GRIPS HAS SOME S&W TARGET STYLE GRIPS IN ROSEWOOD FOR THE REDHAWK, BOTH IN CHECKERED AND SMOOTH, THESE "LOOK" LIKE WHAT I AM LOOKING FOR. ANYONE OUT THERE HAVE EXPERIENCE WITH THESE EAGLE GRIPS?

There is another way but a bit more costly. A while back I had Gary Reeder completely refurbish a Ruger Redhawk Hunter in 44 magnum. I bought it around 1986-87 and it had seen quite a bit of punishment. Besides the refurbishment he changed the contour of the grip frame to the Gunfighter grip and put on some Mongolian stag grips. I wanted something special for myself after many years.
I will tell you that the felt recoil of the gun is much less than what it felt like using a cushioned grip like a Hogue. I know it is a bit of money but to me well worth it

BIGBORE442001: I KICK MYSELF IN THE ASS FOR NOT TRYING OUT ONE OF GARY'S RECONFIGURED REDHAWKS AT ONE OF THE YO HANDGUNNER HUNTS WHEN HE BROUGHT A LOT OF HIS WARES TO DISPLAY AND PLAY WITH.

At the range, I tell my friends handling the Redhawk with the Mongolian Stag grips and the contoured frame is like holding Blake Lively in your arms.

A .44 Redhawk was my first big bore. My problem with the design was that the grip frame was too small for comfortable Magna-type grips but too big for comfortable Roper type grips. So I traded it.
I did encounter a set of unused BearHug (Deacon Deason) grips for the Redhawk for $20 and still kick myself for not getting them.

With the Redhawk...it seems the factory designed the perfect grip as it fits everyone well until you touch one heavy load off... I was lucky enough to find a set of the Uncle Mike's which is the only one of the aftermarket grips that really fit my hand. Have tried all the rest and they just don't feel "right"...
Hogue just came out with a slighty more compact set for the round butt guns and put a set on a 2.75" .41 Magnum...feels much better than stock but have not had a chance to try them out yet....

The best I've found is the Badger Grips available at grips4guns.com.
