Anyone have pics/suggestions for opening up the top strap so I can see the front sight? Prev owner filed down the front sight blade a bit, We'll see where it shoots POA vs POI. Happy because it's an old Vaquero, with steel GF. I really prefer the feel (weight/balance) of a steel GF (Like my fav I got from my old friend before we lost him) Suggestions and pics welcome. D.

That front sight is a nice eye-grabber. I have a need for a wider rear sight width, and wonder who might open up the top strap groove, maybe create the appearance of a wide flat rear blade without detracting from the classic look of the piece.
Checked cylinder throats with gages... they run .450 - .451

The groove in the top strap of Bear Spray was widened with a small square file, then the curve of the back filed to provide a crisper rear sight image.

Have you done anything to your Vaquero to improve the sight picture? Im curious and interested in how you improve the picture.

You can carefully file each side of the rear sight to widen it. Be sure to make the same amount of file strokes on each side or you will change the impact right or left.
