It would be a beautiful gun if you was to replace the barrel with a octagon one.

Can’t be fixed. Best left for poker games, where the ports will dim overhead light on the first shot. Smith and Wesson forged the old classic barrels two ways----with the ramp as intrinsic to the forging, and with a separate drop forged base.
Nobody’s done better than S&W at the red ramp, molded into a dovetail cut with dual holes drilled in the floor of the dovetail to prevent sight shift. Barrel vents starboard & port invite hot gas upon the red insert. David Bradshaw

Has anyone seen Bowen mark a barrel with Rugers billboard before? Sellers says that's common. What would be the point? Seems counterintuitive. Never... When I visited BCA I saw some S&W type sight bases for use when shortening a S&W barrel. Liiks almost like it could be a security six barrel with one of those front sight bases on it. I still wouldn't own the gun with those holes in the barrel. Good luck getting someone to fix it. Sell er updated his listing with a quote from the builder..... Been wrong before and will again....

It's funny what folks will pay for something....
Personal tastes are what make the world go round but this person thinks the price on this revolver has gotten way high for what it it.
And that barrel.....
Kings6 Shooting Master didn't bring nearly what it was worth and now this....

Unreal. I bought an OM 44 Special, Turnbull CCH, rebored factory barrel from Hamilton a few years back, from his “For Sale” page. In other words, no base gun cost. If memory serves, it was $2k. Add a S&W barrel for around $900, drop the rebore charge (no idea - maybe $1-200) and this sale seems a bit high. Never know what’s going to happen when two people really want the same thing in an auction format. If I ever Gunbroker a gun, I hope those two guys both want it!! Tim

I think a lot of it has to do with having it now, rather than waiting months or years.

I think a lot of it has to do with having it now, rather than waiting months or years. I'm confident you're right about that. It still happens to me.... Like that .218 bee that keeps calling my name....

Those bidders don't seem familiar to me. I watch that kind of stuff. Better examples of the same type of work has went for much less money recently.

As a bidder on the Clements gun, I can tell you that the prospect of no donor gun plus no wait had me bidding it up. A good friend of mine ended up winning it. Beer was involved.
