Reading the thread about cleaning six shooters makes me appreciate all the work people put into having perfectly maintained, perfectly functional guns.
This thread is about the opposite! The gun that gets left under the seat. The shotgun on the bench in the barn.
There will be folks that won’t like the way some of these are maintained, but I will go out on a limb and say that a lot of us have guns that are less than well oiled and we keep them in strategic locations for when the need arises!
It’s not that these guns are unappreciated. Just the opposite.
I will edit this and add some pictures when I get a chance. But maybe someone can start us off!

I don't abuse any of my guns, but this one I don't worry about appearance (I had no hand in the color scheme!). We've got an H&R single shot 12 ga that fits the bill for riding on the front of the ATV or seat of a truck without worries.

My model 70 3006. One of my favorite guns and one that has killed deer, coyotes, prairie dogs and whatever other little critters one needs to dispatch out a window. Love this gun. Not oiled regularly The 20ga 870 road on the floorboards of the semi for every bale of hay I hauled this fall. I also shot some doves and grouse with it this year and it has lived on the shop bench ever sense.

Did you see that old Colt I got working for my neighbor, his 1st ever handgun "Barn Find Thread"... he was still using it like the "before" picture ( no grips & all )... just that the mainspring had gotten weak enough, that it wouldn't fire the 22 birdshot anymore... before... After... closest thing for me was also my 1st handgun... a used stainless 4" GP-100... however that is at Dave Clements right now, so it'll likely no longer be my "knock around" gun... Before... After... gun is still at Clements, getting rechambered to 10mm rimmed, barrel shortened to 3" & getting slab sided... but will be wearing a new Ruger Compact GP-100 grip, with these Spalted Sendora inserts that Zane at LSCG made for me... I guess by nature ( stainless & durable grips ) the handguns would now be, my EDC snubbie 45 Colt Montado, or one of my Ruger Alaskans ( 454 or 480 )... This my 480... for rifles, no question would be my 17 Mach 2, which is always leaning against the door frame, waiting to dispatch some critter on the farm... always requires a good swipe of the front scope lense to remove the dust, so the scope is useable... I do have an old H&R Folding 12 ga, that I customized that rides in the truck, in a pool cue bag before... after... ah... I did find a picture or two... barrel was shortened, a new fiber optic front bead added as well as an adjustable poly choke, length to match the length of the stock, when folded ( after the addition of a nice soft & thick recoil pad... the gun was then duracoated to make it more resilient to rust while performing it's truck passenger duties... the pool cue bag has pockets that hold custom belt slings that hold 8 rounds of 4 types of shells slugs, buck shot, lead shot & steel shot... the idea was of those old "pocket fishermen" by Ronco, that they used to sell on TV... it's my "pocket hunter" & is ready to shoot deer, ducks, turkeys, or bad guys at a moments notice... I'll have to get a newer "after" picture of my "pocket hunter" as it's been done for about 5-6 years now

I would say it does. I am sure that gun could tell a story or two!

Working on MRS "throw around" CZ Cottontail .410... Jeep Gun Before... ( as tight as it would fold ) making it really "fold" still working on it, I can get it much tighter this one does need a new picture... MRS is 5'2" & the butt stock was cut down to proper LOP for her, & barrel then trimmed to the stocks length ( BTW, all are legal length barrels... but this one is pretty close )... this one is going to get a screw in choke, as I can't find ( don't think they ever made ) a poly choke for the .410 a couple new pics... still needs a choke...

I refuse to show my Ruger LCP that live in my pants pocket for the last 10 yrs. It fires every time needed and gets cleaned and grease the slide when I think of it and am in the house. My buddy saw it one day at the range and he felt so sorry for it he offered to have the slide redone.

Forgot I had this picture. Was out loading wood to haul in the barn to the wood stove the other day. Knocked the 69 out of the chest rig. Hung it by the stove until it melted off gave it a little oil and shoved it back in the holster.

Kinda high for what the gun is worth, but sure is pretty! Tim

Yes I have seen the CCH slide on one. If I am going to spend a $100. With anyone it not going on the LCP. If I ever have to use it for defense the LEO,s are going to toss, drop and beat the crap out of it. So maybe this summer I will Get a can of TSC tractor paint and give it a spray job. Ok I took a picture anyone care to post it for me.
