I haven't found a clear grasp of what/why the NEI 429 310 mold?

Thanks for the info guys. I do not cast yet, but have picked up the occasional mold, a used furnace.....
One day I'll figure where to fit in a spot to set up and give it a go.
The lab in the PVC plant I used to work at had these great glass fronted vent hoods... how great that would be to talk the owner of the site out of one, and figure how to get it out of there and drag it home!

I picked up the 310 429.
Question is, can sprue plate be swapped from another nei mold of the same size that's not being used?
I have seen comments that maybe NEI is out of business, maybe replacement part would not be available.
