WTFTT guns do not show up for sale often! That one even has a shorter than normal barrel.

Wondered how long it would take to be posted here. More than a couple forum members have placed bids. We'll see where it lands in a coupla days.

That’s real nice, appeals to me more than some of the other TLAs.

Starting to really like the looks of TLAs from you bad influences. The plumbing is amazing

$5975 plus shipping. I held on for the wild ride, but just couldn't see paying that much for it. If I did not already own a .44 Special Flat Top Target (The Bocephus gun), I probably would have gone higher. Congrats to the new owner. If a forum member, please pipe up. I don't recognize the Gunbroker handle.

I got busy and missed the end of the auction which is a good thing! Higher than I anticipated for sure. With several of the members here bidding I didn’t want to play in the sandbox but I have to admit that it was tempting.

It is a nice gun but not worth the selling price to me.
I would have guessed about $4500 but it did have the extra cylinders so....
The Fishpaw grips added a lot to it too but one was chipped.
Sometimes somebody just has to have it and are willing to pay for it.
I'm certainly guilty.
Seems less painful somehow when I'm having guns built though.
Maybe it's because the process sort of proceeds in steps instead of all at once.

Love the CCH (great colors but dull due to lack of lacquer- classy) and barrel length on that one, and the Fishpaw grips are a nice touch if unnecessary given nice factory walnuts. Matte ivory would have been more appealing to the overall look of the gun.
The extra cylinders are neat, but wouldn't see any use in this house and add only collector value IMO.
I can't say if the gun was well sold or well bought, but 6K won't get you as nice a gun from Bowen if only due to the shortcomings of Ruger base guns.
I think the TLA Express that sold recently is looking more and more like a steal.
Greg, you're gonna drink the TLA Kool Aid one of these days and won't regret it. The size of the cylinders dwarves even oversized Ruger cylinders in a gun that's no bigger than a Blackhawk, and completely fills the frame window the way we like. The indexing of the action is something you've gotta feel.
Sooooo if one were to own a WTFTT all blue with a 7.5 inch barrel, would it be the worst thing to have it trimmed to 5.5 inches, a Fermin King TLA style sight installed, CCH, and BP chamfer? Asking for a friend.
BTW, Bowen won't work on these. I asked a few weeks ago. I don't know who aside from Harton will.

... but 6K won't get you as nice a gun from Bowen if only due to the shortcomings of Ruger base guns. Having had a couple of TLA’s that have made a stop at Alan Harton’s shop for internal hardness updates, and also a fair number of customs from Hamilton Bowen, my experiences would lead me to differ with you on this statement. The TLA’s are wonderful guns, but so are the Bowen’s I’ve handled. Six grand buys a lot of custom. Tim

I believe Clements has worked on TLA guns before and I know John Gallagher has as well but he is still in the battle with the big "C" for awhile longer. If I wanted to shorten my WTFTT I'd have Alan make a new barrel, install the sight and do the other work and keep the original barrel. You could even get a hold of JL Bentley and buy a spare cylinder and have Alan chamber and fit it and do the PB chamfer and still have the original one for later. That is what I had Alan do when he converted one of my USFA guns from 45 to 41 Special. All the original parts of barrel, cylinder EJR assembly ans springs came home with the gun.

Tim I'll admit to overstating the case. $6k leaves room for remedial work even after CCH, three cylinders, and Fishpaw grips are added. I picked Bowen because he finishes his guns so nicely. In his book, he talks about factory rounded edges limiting the grit to which he polishes most Rugers, short of spending a lot of time and money on remedial metal work (including welding). For the TLAs that have gone for around the $3k mark, the case much stronger.
