New member here, got a question for y'all.
I've used a 1911 magazine to carry reloads for my .45acp vaquero. I've thought about getting a desert eagle mag to carry reloads for my .44.
Wondering if anyone has tried anything similar with .327? I was thinking that maybe a .357 mag for a Desert Eagle or a Coonan might work but those aren't the cheapest mags to come by and I'd rather not buy one if it won't work.
Any experience to share?

NOT QUITE THE ANSWER TO YOUR QUESTION BUT I USE SLIT STRAWS AROUND 327 CASES FOR USE IN 38/357 BULLET LOOPS AND 223 STRIPPER CLIPS DO AN EXCELLENT JOB OF HOLDING THE RIMMED 32's.

An M1 Carbine mag might work, and would be a very convenient pocket size. I'll try it this weekend and report back.

I loaded 12 rounds of Federal 85 gr. Hydra Shok into a USGI .30 carbine mag. I think it's a viable way to carry spare ammo in a slim, sturdy package, but it won't work well as a single action "speed loader" the way you can use a 1911 mag to load a single action .45 ACP. Three issues were apparent:
1. The carbine mag is a staggered feed design, and the magazine is too wide to get good access to the chambers; 2. Being a rimmed round, the .327s have to be carefully loaded so that the upper round's rim stays ahead of the round below - otherwise, you get what's called "rim lock" and you can't easily slide the rounds forward and out the front of the mag; and 3. The carbine mag doesn't expose enough of the base of the .327 round to thumb them forward and out without tearing up your thumb - plus, the shorter length of the .327 often causes them to nosedive into the front lip of the mag, hanging them up.
1911 mags and the rimless .45 ACP round avoid each of these problems. The advantage of a magazine over a Tuff Strip or Speed Strip is that it advances the next round into position for loading, and allows that round to be positioned directly over the chamber to be loaded. I'm thinking maybe an old fashioned 5.56 stripper clip, which were used to speed load M16 mags, might work - the .327 rim is close in diameter to the 5.56, and you could just push the remaining rounds toward the end of the clip for loading. I've got some around here somewhere - I'll let you know if they produce any better results.

Thanks Odessaman! This is exactly the kind of info I was after. I may end up trying a Coonan mag.

Welcome Odessaman, Interesting screen name. Where does the Odessa come from? Prescut Odessa, Florida - near Tampa. It ain't Odessa, Texas, but we like single actions down here, too!
