I see that Ruger has the Blackhawk 10/40 available in a 4 5/8 barrel length. Boy, we are living in handgun nirvana these days. About anything you want in a single Action is available. I have the same model in the 6 1/2 inch barrel version. I sent the 10mm cylinder to Mr. Harton and had him turn it into a 38-40. I think I need the 4 5/8 barrel length. Why ? I dunno, just want it. Thoughts ?

I bought the 6.5" too. Extremely well built/fitted gun except grip fit.
It is next on my list to go to Clements for custom work.
As far as adding a second one, why not? You get one shot at life. Live it...

Lipseys sure is hitting on great gun after great gun, faster than ones bank account can keep up! Wish it was a blues gun instead of a stainless but Ruger is far more flexible at producing these small runs in stainless for some reason. I know there are more choice guns coming down the pipeline as well. Just takes time to produce them all and to make the extra money to buy them.

I've been in the "Why, I don't know" corner also but I keep listening to Huey & now that Starline has 38/40 brass I'm getting closer to making the jump myself just to see how one of these 6 1/2" guns performs. Already have some 40 caliber moulds so........

I pay pretty danged close attention to John Taffin's writings. Also, Phil Sharpe, Dave Scovill and others. Phil Sharpe's 1937 Loading Manual is still heavily used at my house. Dave Scovill's "LOADING THE PEACEMAKERS" is a valuable resource too. Here is JTs article on the 38-40. Full of useful information... www.sixguns.com/tests/tt3840.htmI'm thinking the GT 180 grn Hollow Point Bullets at 1200 fps will take a lot of game and put a lot of pleasure back in shooting...

My favorite cartridge of all times is hands down the 25-20. But, the 45 Colt, 44 Special and 327 Federal rate high in revolvers.
I really like the FA97, Ruger Bisley Flattops and Single Seven Revolvers. But, really like them all.
I get a kick out of proving the old ones still work. Granted, these old horses don't need my validation. They worked before I came along and will do so after my demise. But, I like fanning the flame.
The 327 Federal (and 32 Magnum) remind me of early hunters taking small game to feed the family. My Henry Lever Action 327 Federal is very similar to early 32 rimfires and 32-20.

Thoughts ? You don’t need a reason for ejector rod length ( 4 5/8”, 4 3/4” ) barrelled revolvers, even if your duplicating something already in the stable. Just pick them up as you see them, you will thank your self later, no such thing as too many.

My buckeye 10mm/38-40 was beautiful, all steel blued gripframe, accurate, with my hot loads a great hunting tool. I would like a 4 5/8” Linsey’s but ream the 50 small & weak to 38wcf, and maybe add a couple others. But I have been rebuilding my collection and have been really interested in Smith DAs and also lighter calibers. Maybe I’m just getting older. At least thanks to Ron a fellow member I got to get back my 32cal. Buckeye and my 68 flat top 22 mag. Which could go off to become a sick little compact 357 sig or 10mm. Never much cared for 10mm mag. I’d just go back to my 400 Corbon dies and whip up some serious speed rounds. Just my babaling 2 cents.
