Have a stainless bisley with the original stainless hammer and trigger. Was contemplating adding a case colored hammer and trigger to dress it up a bit. Always liked the look on stainless Smith and Wessons just not sure how it would play on a single action. Anyone have any pictures of a Ruger set up this way?

I am planning a new hunting gun. Going to have the hammer and trigger color cased and the pins, screws, base pin ,latch screws and ejected rod will get nitrate blued. Think this done to a stainless Bisley with Stag grips will look real nice!

That's an awesome look that's reminiscent of Nickeled S&W revolvers to me.

Stainless steel never develops the look of a fine nickel plated gun. The stainless always maintains that silver/gray finish, while nickel gets that "brassy" look in time. There is no way stainless steel ever develops character on a revolver.
And I'm not too fond of nickel.

Bob, tastes are subjective, but you've obviously never seen a stainless gun that's been polished by a professional who's knows what he's doing. www.patriotgunpolishing.com/

Was thinking of building a a SS bisvaquero with an octagonal 4 5/8" barrel in 475 or 500 as a packing pistol with bullet proof sights but findng a cheap large frame SS vaquero for hasn't been easy. Contemplated a case hardened carbon steel frame with SS grip frame and barrel. The only drawback was I wanted SS for the corrosion resistance in the wet fall we have here.

Bobby Tyler has done some hammers and triggers for stainless GP100s. they look nice. I think what you are wanting would look nice as well. Bobby can case color stainless hammers, but you might have to get some carbon steel pins to do the nitrate bluing on.

jdpress I had no intentions of running out and getting a stainless SBH to get polished, but your pictures have kind of struck me, I’d like to see more in different light. Not all polishing jobs are equal, yours appears very good.
