Paul, I don’t remember where I saw it. But in the last few days I saw a 4 3/4 inch 44 special for sale, $1899.

Keep in mind that one is a black powder frame which isn't your standard issue, garden variety SAA. In my opinion around $1,800 ish is what I've seen decent standard issue 3rd gen SAA selling for. I guess as far as this one goes...Seems a little pricey to me but try and find another one.

I saw a .44 Spl 4-3/4” that had been shot but still very nice at a gunshow in Knoxville for $1600 yesterday.

I agree with savit...being a BP frame it is a bit harder to find...but not THIS hard to find. I have seen them in the $1800-$22000 range for sure. Not sure on this one though...thats just too high a price for a 3rd gen no matter the BP frame/bullseye ejector. I wouldn't pay that.

That is a beautiful Colt and like everything, its worth whatever someone is willing to pay for it.

I do like it, BP frame is pretty nice, just a little high for me.

I agree that I wouldn't pay that either, however this being a "penny to start auction", I'd have to figure these are real tough to come by , or some people got carried away in a bidding war.

Yeah...I have to assume that whoever wanted it so badly...and after 45 bids, knew exactly what they were getting and they felt it worth it. Unless like you say, they got caught in an out of control bidding war...it happens.

It was two guys in that last hour. Everyone else dropped out just above $2,000.
When two dig in their heels, it gets expensive.

I think all to often it becomes about “the win” and the price just CLIMBS!
