I picked up the 500 S&W today and I have to say I’m very pleased with this revolver. The cylinder lockup is perfect with no play at all. Barely a cylinder gap to speak of, and the single action trigger pull breaks like glass with not a single bit of creep. The double action is heavy but is smooth as expected with a S&W. Despite its size and weight I’m actually surprised on how well it handles and balances. A good purchase and proud to be part of my collection
Oh and qualified for a rebate from S&W.

Congrats. Sounds like you got a good one. The 500 mag is no joke.

Congrats. Sounds like you got a good one. The 500 mag is no joke. I appreciate it it, hope to shoot it soon and give a full report. I won’t be touching off any full power loads but I do want to reload for something more enjoyable

500s are fun guns... I have a 4" and "had" a 6.5" which I sold to a friend...
Not sure what weight bullet you have decided on but I use only 350s... Sierra JHP, Hornady XTP HP, Speer FP, Barry's plated and I believe a NOE mold that drops a 350 FP...
18.0 grains of Unique runs the Berry's plated bullet 1080 fps... 20 grains on the other jacketed bullets 1220... Very pleasant loads to shoot.
I sent a dummy round with a Barry's bullet seated to Lee and for $29.00 they made a Factory Crimp Die...puts a nice heavy crimp in place...

Kyle has a habit of adding really nice revolvers. Has big bores second to nobody.
I've tried to push him towards some small bores, but he always makes a U-Turn.

Full tilt loads are not fun. Especially with a snub.

Full tilt loads are not fun. Especially with a snub. Very nice. I bet the snub can be brutal... had a pc before a few years ago but had to part with it. This 6.5 isn’t going anywhere
