It was there for quite a while.
The price was too high...JMO...
Whatever the market will bear.
I've paid more for one I really wanted...

Biggest thing about that gun is it was built prior to Ruger coming out with the factory 480. That five-shot, caliber conversion wasn't cheap. Send in a factory gun for similar mods (obviously without the caliber conversion) and the cost to duplicate it becomes much less than the asking price.
Still, a nice gun!!
I have a similar situation with a Bowen 327 Single Six I had built before Ruger came out with their own. Lots less money in having Hamilton customize a gun without a cylinder and barrel change.
Just something to ponder.

My reading of it is that he started with the factory 480, kept the factory barrel and had John make a new 5 shot cylinder. Not sure why one wouldn't go whole hog and have a john make a new barrel. To each their own. Either way looks like a damn nice gun that will probably look cheap when the maker retires.

That is what I read too Mike.
There was a revolver for sale on Gunbroker last week that was a factory SS .41 magnum bisley with an oversized 6 shot cylinder with all the bells and whistles that Linebaugh gun had that David Clements built. It was for sale for $1200 and it didn't sell.
That's what I'm talking about.

I think jdoc got a great price for the gun, and it raised the bar for my Harton 480.😎

I just wish I could magically have back my 5 shot 45 Colt conversion that Mr. L. did for me WAY back when he first became known to the world. Prob said it on here or elsewhere...... paid $800.00 to convert a 44 Mag Bisley... new barrel, 5 shot cylinder, action job.
Donor gun plus 800....... sheesh!
The rare time that one like it shows up for sale has not coincided with me having money to try to nab it.
Sooner or later, I reckon, someone's decision to part with their custom 45 in order to pay for a bigger bore build will work out in my favor.

You and Greg are right - I got this 480 mixed up with the Bowen 480 plow handle that is also on GB RF.com. It was formerly a 357. Lack of sleep lately... Carry on with discussion and shooting. Tim

Being in charge Tim will mess with your mind, besides the driving all over Oklahoma.
