Was going to shoot my Redhawk on the next range trip and after a few dry fires the hammer link broke. Have any of you broken one of these before?

I've never even seen the words "broke " and "Redhawk" in the same sentence.
Call Ruger and they will probably send one right out.

I was going to call them on Monday. Honestly quite surprised that it broke, I've never had a part fail on Ruger DAs, and I've put a few miles on the ones I own.

Yes I have, but I can break ANYTHING!
It's an easy fix and Ruger sent me two. Now if I break another one I'm good to go..... If I can find it. 🤑 Dan

Alaskan454 and Dan.... curious as to where your hooks broke, whether the parts broke in the same place, and whether there may have been burrs or visible signs of stretching or hard-snapping. David Bradshaw

David
Mine too broke right at the hook. Taxing my memory a bit, but when I talked to the Ruger employee I was told to be sure it was hooked properly. I think that was from the bottom but either way my gun was "wrong". I had never messed with it so it was as it came from the factory. When I got the new part I installed it as instructed (I think a diagram came with it) and have never had another issue.
Mine probably had 15+ years on it, purchased in '93, before it broke with several thousand rounds down range. It did break while dry firing.

Mine was installed correctly, just broke when I pulled the trigger. It happens, I've had lots of broken parts over the years in various guns. Usually it's not the ones you'd expect.

Thanks to David for bringing the pictures of the Redhawk hammer back to the top (in the gallery). I couldn't see back then how the hook being up or down changed any stress on the part but installed the replacement as instructed nonetheless.

So I just noticed that Mr.Bradshaw's hammer link is upside down compared to the schematics I've seen. Is there a reason for that?
