I recently sold my S&W 69 with the 4.2" bbl and bought the 2.75" bbl version Model 69. I was using a Galco DAO holster for the 4.2" gun and really like the holster being able to wear it strongside or cross draw but they don't make a holster for the shorter bbl. Any suggestions for a similar holster without breaking the bank? Not really wanting the pancake style since they take up a good bit of belt room, but will probably get a simply rugged pancake if I can't find anything else. Thanks, John.

Not to take anything away from Rob but also check out DeSantis as they make a "pancake" holster that can be worn FBI cant, Neutral cant, and crossdraw style. Bout the same price.

You could cut your current Gallo and have a leather person restitch it for you.

Yup, what BBD said. If you live near an Amish community, find the harness maker, boot and shoemaker, repairer.

I also use that holster for a 4" S&W 617, thanks, I also thought of that, I could buy another and do that. You could cut your current Gallo and have a leather person restitch it for you. Trapr

I took a SAO for a 5.5” gun and cut it to fit a 4 5/8” without needing to rethread. Perhaps the 4” model could be cut close enough to not need rethreading as well.

Buy a good holster for a 700 dollar plus gun! I found a Model 19 4" on a USFS trail once. I later found out it had fallen out of a cheap piece of leather that the owner had kept the gun in and secured to a knapsack. Apparently "not so good".
I learned 45 years ago as a rookie cop: Got a nice gun, keep it in good or better leather.

Finally remember to get the camera, the 69 and the holsters together. I have two of these holsters, the one pictured is crossdraw only. The other is crossdraw or strongside. They fit a variety of snubbies, 2 3/4 inch Speed Six, 2 3/4 inch Model 69, 3 inch 686, Rossi 720. Probably others that I don't have. Bianchi 111 Cyclone for 2 1/2 inch Smith & Wesson/Ruger.

A holster like that went with the 44 SBH on to my nephew. About the same wear too. Sigh, miss it. Good holsters. I'd kinda like a Hunter type holster, the ones that can snap on/off, put on and take off without removing belt each time. Generous enough room for belt so as to fit some fanny pack, wader belts and pack waist belts too. Yeah, this will allow it to slop around a bit on a normal belt.
