I took my working single seven apart to smooth a few rough spots and machine marks and upon reassembly I had a problem. Ten times of disassembly and assembly later I still have an issue. Gun assembled and base pin in without the cylinder, it functions like it should. Put the cylinder in and it’s like it is full of gravel and cylinder doesn’t fully advance and the hammer will not cock. Any ideas where to look? I’m out of ideas.

Make sure the cylinder stop plunger and spring are correctly seated and not broken (plunger) I had it happen once in 30 years but still is possible. Check the pawl and up inside the frame where it rides. Verify trigger spring is up under the trigger. I know ya know but never hurts to Check. Lastly check pawl plunger and spring. After diss and re assemblies over and over we all can get frustrated. Ie: my sheriffs model 32mag I made, pc 3 click kit never wanted to work right, Ron Powers told me that's the only one that gives him issues usually due to 5 or 6 different pawl configurations Ruger used.

Once ,silly stupid me used a longer grip screw in the "front " hole and it interfered with the cylinder. Also double check the loading gate spring is tucked in where it outta be. Visually check the transfer bar is being fully pushed out of the way and not hooking under the firing pin. Simple solutions but you KNOW it's gonna be a simple mistake.

I came back to this dumpster fire today and discovered that I had installed the wrong pawl out of the pile. I put the right one in and the gravel was gone.

Sometimes it pays to just walk off from a project for a while.
I've woke during the night with solutions. Of course, get out of bed and go fix a gun. Helps to clear the mind sometimes.

Little, stackable trays! Each gun gets its own personal place to a hang out!

I had fitted this gun as a Bisley and I was changing it back to a plow handle. I had leftover parts lying everywhere from looking through my stash. It looked like a revolver explosion there for awhile...lesson learned.
