Can anybody please direct me to some 297 for sale??? I've been looking for ages and can't find any current sellers. Have plenty of 296, but would like to try to get a bit more oomph with heavy bullets in my 500 JRH, 41 mag, and 327 Fed revolvers.

Have you tried Alliant 300MP? Its is said to be even a bit slower than 297. I know its slower than 296/H110.

Thanks for the recommendation. I've read a lot about 300MP and concluded it would be too slow for top velocity in the handgun cartridges I'm shooting. If I continue to strike out with 297, I might have to give it a try.

I've never heard of 297 until just now. When was it brought to market ? How is it different from 296/H110 ?

From what I've read, it is a ball powder similar to, but slightly slower than, 296. Both are made by St. Marks, and some 297 used to be available through surplus dealers, but hasn't been for a while. Supposedly, it is used in hot factory loads in 327 Federal and Buffalo Bore 500 JRH, etc, but is not sold directly to reloaders.

Ok. Thanks ! I was hoping it was new and improved. With much better thermos ballistic independence. Than 296.
