Here's something a little different. This is a Tanfoglio Witness Limited Custom in 9mm. I picked it up the other day and got a chance to shoot it this morning. As far as these pistols go, just about everything that can be done has been done to it. The trigger is right at 2 lbs with minimal pre travel and over travel. Unlike a 1911, you cannot snug up on the trigger and the reset isn't as obvious. It takes some getting used to. It is a heavy pistol so recoil is minimal and the front sight comes right back almost as soon as it cycles. I've been shooting custom 2011's lately and I'm used to their accuracy. I know that the Limited is supposed to be accurate too, but you can't know until bullets go down range. With the exception of one issue, I found it is very very close to as accurate as the 2011's. The exception is the front sight is rather thick compared to what I usually shoot (.125" compared to .100" thick) and it doesn't have the fiber optic either. I have one on order from Dawson Precision. Just thought I'd share.

That’s cool. I never had any of those guns until JT told me he had an article coming out on the 10mm match version. Well, after reading it and looking around, I snatched one up not long ago. Seems to be well made guns. Hope to have time to shoot it soon! Thanks for sharing the pics. You don’t see those often

I've seen a few 10mm's for sale in my state, but didn't really want another caliber on hand. I understand they are accurate too. A neat thing about them is that you can do the action work yourself. It mainly is polishing moving parts of the trigger system and a few lighter springs.
This particular pistol is SAO so I didn't have to consider the double action pull. Others can get the double action down to some seriously light pulls, but you may sacrifice reliability in the process.
I didn't do any of the work to this one. Patriot Defense gave me a pretty good deal on the work so I let the experts do this one. It probably will have the DA/SA version as a safe mate eventually. I'll do the work on it.

A Tanfoglio 40 S&W was my last custom IPSC gun in the mid-1990's. It to this day has never jammed and is pleasingly accurate. Their modern guns are probably great values.

About half of what a custom 2011 costs. The problem I had with reliability today was magazine related. I'm using a +6 Henning baseplate and follower and I have 3 old style and 3 new style magazines. The old style magazines were giving me issues. It being a new gun, I knew I'd have some sort of an issue as that's just the way it is.

While it doesn't get much use these days, I've had a .45 ACP as my ban state Limited-10 gun for years. Next time it's out of the safe I need to take a newer picture, it's tape job is yellow and blue now days. lol

I shot IPSC with a custom TA90 in the 80's. UIt was a DA/SA gun, but that never bothered my. I disable the hammer-drop on the safety so that I wouldn't have to re-cock when moving through a stage, stipled fthe front and back-strap of the grips and the wooden grip, had the slide shortened .6", a two-piece guide-roc and a coned-barrel with a slide-profile comensator I designed and had Randy Ketchum make for me. Shot 9mm Major; the gun worked great, was accurate and put rounds on target quick.
That's a great-looking gun!

They do turn out some slick hardware. A lot of gun for the money.. Hate I can't rack the slid without grabbing the frame.. They are so well though of I'm sure I could learn to deal with it if I was forced......

I understand what you mean. Very little real estate sticking up above the grip frame. Though I've only put 500 rounds through mine so far, I've been able to rack the slide with very little effort using the front serrations. It helps that I'm running an 8 lb recoil spring and that the slide to frame fit has gotten very smooth quickly.
While it isn't quite as accurate as my custom 2011, it is a lot of bang for the buck and it feels so good in my hands.
The aluminum Eric Grauffel grips I had installed when I bought the gun are just too thin. They look great, but that's about it. I ordered a set of LOK G10 palm swell grips and they feel much better.
