I have found "HUNTIN' GUN" WALTER RODGERS (1949) TO BE A MOST ENJOYABLE AND INTERESTING READ. Rodgers wrote regularly for AR in the 1940s with a couple excellent pieces in GUNS in the 1950s. He was areal old time cowboy. I found the copy of his book for very few $$ on Amazon or Abebooks.

I got the one from Abebooks.
I just finished John Taffin's book and loved the writing style. If he thinks this guy is good, I can't wait.

I just finished with these Huntin stories and Mr Taffin was right about the writing style. Lots of "Oh shucks and gosh darn it". This guy can paint a picture without getting artsy and cutey pie.
Very enjoyable!

dixiejack,
that would be me who got the Abe books one. That was back in October and I finished it a couple of weeks ago. I sent it to a member here three days ago, or I would have hooked you up.
It is a great read for those who enjoy good writing.
Sorry, bud.

I ordered it on 1/22 and the next day I received an email from the bookseller that it had been sold two days pryor to my order and they had not had time to take it off their webisite. I appreciate your offer, but I collect old books (mostly sporting) so I will keep on hunting. Hunting and finding an old book is half the fun. Regards, George

I got good karma today. Left this site and did a quick search on Amazon for our book in subject. Found a 1st edition of "HUNTIN' GUN" WALTER RODGERS (1949) in the dust jacket rated very good condition $39.95. I checked my Amazon bonus points and used them to pay for the book and postage. Now, I'll go look for the elusive blued Vaquero .45LC with a 6 1/2" bbl. Karma might kick me in the butt on this search.
