I have a hankering for the New Model 19 with the 3 inch , ported barrel, from the Performance Center. I am not really a Double aAtion guy so want to have some opinions on the gun before I lay out the $900.00 on it. It sure looks sweet though. Somebody talk me through it.

One of my favorite Smith is a 66-2 3"...has great balance. Smith didn't make many adjustable sight K-frames with 3" barrels and as a result one doesn't find them under a grand...usually closer to $1400... The PC ported model sells for over $2K.
The 19 3" is extremely rare and brings huge money. There was also a pre-lock 19 PC that was ported. I saw one last year for $1200 and should have bought it...it disappeared in just a few days....
What do you plan on doing with it besides shooting...carry?

SEE THE NOV/DEC AMERICAN HANDGUNNER Thanks John, Great information there. It looks like a great shooter. I would use it for occasional carry but mostly just range plinking.

It would be a great opportunity to learn how to shoot in Double Action only, which is its own kind of fun! But if you thumb the hammer and shoot it in single only ... which I've noticed many people do ... then you might not get the full value of the gun. I've got a PC 627, so I think you'd be happy with the fit and finish for sure.

After reading that link to American Handgunner it would be easy to order one up, that 3” would be awesome.

Before you order one for yourself, find one to handle, shoot, and check out the bore, cylinder throats, and group size. I had a performance center gun and it was far from as good as one off the shelf although it cost three times as much. I would advise you to spend the money with a good custom gun builder. You will get a much better gun and probably spend less money.

A good Smith K frame will have a double action trigger that must be experienced. And it may spoil you. Get yourself one.
