I've never messed around at this distance but sure had fun today! This FA 454 is so dang accurate. I cast a 335-340gr LFN (depending on alloy) from an Accurate mould a friend gave me. My load ended up at 1525ish fps. I worked it up to 1575ish but it took 1.5gr more H110 to get there. I backed it down. Been shooting it quite a bit lately out to 150-170 yds. Had to set the steel out further today. 12" Steel, 205yds ranged. 335gr LFN 1525ish 4X Leupold After settling in on this rest, I shot these four and then missed the 5th. I shot it a bunch more after this. What a hoot! Got the attention of a few rifle shooters as well Headed out moose hunting this thursday.

Point taken sir. What I meant was is moose antler not a candidate for gun grips? Thanks Snyd.

Moose will make good grips. They'd be similar to elk.
Great shooting Sir! Good luck on your hunt!

Snyd.... fine shooting. A 335 at 1,525 fps from your M83 .454 Casull is a handful, yet manageable, especially with the Pachmayr grip in the weather bound to strike you on the trail. During several sessions of swapping M83 wood and Pachmayr Presentation, my Point of Impact coincides @ 100 yards, which came as a surprise, with the Pachmayr more consistent across dry & wet.
Again, a good job on the 12-inch gong @ 200 yards. The ram silhouette measures 12-inches back-to-belly, and is shot @ 200 meters, also @ 200 yards. Best wishes on the hunt, David Bradshaw

Who knows. Thanks for the info on the size of the ram silhouette. I was wondering. We don't have silhouette shooting up here in my neck of the woods. I'd really like to try it someday.

Thanks all for the well wishes guys. This is the earliest I've moose hunted in 10-15 years. Usually I hunt from about the 13th to the 20th. But this year they shortened the season up in my GMU. Sept 1-15 for residents, 8th-15th for non-residents. Fish and Game says low bull to cow ratio. But it's still "Any Bull" so I'll shoot the first bull I can get a crack at. We're about out of moose and the wifey said... "you're goin out on the 1st and don't come home until you get one!"... Well, you know what they say... happy wife is a happy life so I will obey!

I've found the Pachmayr grips superior to the wood grips on my Ruger .357 Maximum 10.5" for silhouette shooting. The material filling the gap behind the trigger guard, and the all-around larger dimensions, really help with holding elevation on the 200m Rams.
