Got my new front sights front Fermin on Saturday and could hardly stand the wait to get to the range and try it out. I’ve had this Single Six for probably ten or twelve years and have always like it just fine but in the back of my mind I wanted to upgrade the sights. This was my excuse to throw a Bowen rear on it at the same time as Fermin’s front and the difference is beyond night and day. I had Fermin thin mine down to .10 as I’d always read that’s what Skeeter thought best and I have to say I like the extra light showing. The front sight looks great and whether by design or just my brain, it just kind of floats out there making me think I’m shooting a much longer barrel if that makes sense. To say I’m satisfied is an understatement and I’m sure glad I bought two of them so that my future Single-Six project can wear one. Thanks Fermin!

As I have gone down this road with you guys I have made a few observations:
The hand cut serrations make quite a difference. I cut them deep and that’s why the front sight blade stands out. I have started to call them Dark Shadows Serrations. I have even sent some serrated blades out there with a coarser pattern with you guys still being pleased. So, as long as they are deep we are getting a sharp sight picture.
The 32/327 Single 6/7s need a blade height of .535” to .550”. The 22 Caliber Single 6’s and it’s 9 and 10 variations can be a little shorter but not so short that the base of the blade intrudes in the rear notch and becomes part of the sight picture. This last becomes even more important with the thinned blades. In other words, all you want in your rear notch is blade. So I’m going to steer away from the shorter blades.
Will I still custom cut a blade to height for you? Absolutely. But I will say time and time again I have discussed this with a client, gotten him to try the slightly taller blade only to have him/her express satisfaction later.
I still retain blanks tall enough for the Single Six platform set up for a 41 Special or .357 Mag or other caliber that would bring more bullet weight to the table.
Last, I have tried various of the nose profile as well as the final finish and I think I’m building them better than ever.
It’s a privilege to serve you guys!!
