Do you mean this stuff? Maybe I did use H110 and only drove it up to 700 fps iirc. I chickened out after that though there were no visual signs of overpressure. I do have some sense of self-presservation. My first load got stuck in the barrel because I started so low. I still have the rest of it and do have the powder vs velocity data in my little notebook. Seated as above, it did fill the cylinder amply - like Mae West in a tank top. Es muy muy sexy.

We messed around with 400 grain bullets in the 45 Colt. Ran them up to a thousand feet per second. Since the 310 grain Keith does everything including kill bison we dropped the 400s

Taffin, do you think 2400 was too fast of a burn for those?

I loaded some 330 Goulds cast from dead soft. They shot well.

I worked with the 405 gr Beartooth in my 5-shot .45 Colt. 20.0 of H110 goes 1,100 fps (Ruger Only, 6-shot load). The gun used is the one at the top of this forum. That cylinder was cut with very tight chambers. I'd start around 19.0 and work-up slowly. For 5-shot customs or FA 83s, you'll cap out at ~23.0 grs. -Lee www.singleactions.com"Chasing perfection five shots at a time"

To my surprise, the 405 gr Beartooths did well out to 100 yards. I later had Mountain Molds make a 380 gr LFN. They too have been pretty consistent. I'm not convinced we need this much weight in the Colt, but if they fly straight, why not.... -Lee www.singleactions.com"Chasing perfection five shots at a time"

Do you think it has something to do with the 1-16 twist? I would be curious to see how they faired out in the bisley . 454's 1-24 twist
