Back in the day I had a M94 trapper 16 inch .45 Colt, the slow twist was actually the least trouble I had with it! It fed almost anything and actually shot more than accurate enough with 300g XTPs to demolish whitetail within 150 yards or so, which was actually twice he range of my typical shot. The BIG PROBLEM was cruddy chamber dimensions that were at absolute SAAMI max numbers, meaning USRA(Winchester) didn’t give a flip how much I complained! Cases fired at Ruger Only levels swelled so much in front of rims that no sizing die I had would resize them enough for them to be used in any other .45! When the little carbine got traded the brass went to scrap yard

My trapper wouldn't shoot anything worth spit but 300r XTPs, and only if you really pushed them. And I mean with loads I wouldn't post publicly. Huge chamber. But that little tiny BB gun sized rifle, with no recoil pad was one of the most abusive things I've ever fired more than once a couple times. I sold it for less than half what I paid.

When the little carbine got traded the brass went to scrap yard My little model 92 has a more generous chamber than I would prefer too, but it's really accurate and a pure joy to shoot with my pet Blackhawk/Redhawk load. No doubt the largish chamber is a significant factor in its ability to feed most anything reliably... Although it's annoying to have to FL size the brass coming out of the 92 instead of just neck sizing as I do with the revolvers, thankfully my Redding dies are able to mash the brass back into shape just fine. I'll give up my model 94 30-30 long before I give up my model 92 .45 Colt.
