I recently added a scope to my Single Six in anticipation of small game season. The only issue is that the hammer spur does not give quite enough clearance for my thumb to get a firm grip on the hammer spur. What would be involved in lowering the spur a little bit, kinda like a mini SBH hammer?
Is this something that can be done by a tinkerer with no torch skills/experience?

Among revolver makers, a trigger job on a Ruger lasts as well as its best rivals, and better than many. easiest solution is to, if possible, set back the eyepiece, or use high rings. David Bradshaw

Bisley hammer for Single Six. Some filing to fit plow handle grip frame. Stainless are available, blued are hard to find. Bobby Tyler can case color or blue the stainless.

Ryan Ross blued my stainless hammer and trigger.
Bobby Tyler case colored a stainless hammer and trigger for me.
Both look great!

Lowering & re-shaping a spur is absolutely possible, it's basically just age-old Blacksmithing; heating, shaping, etc etc, lots of hand-work... but if there's little experience (or none) behind the guy doing the work you're better off with a parts change-out. Risk outweighs the reward if a guy doesn't go about it correctly.

Hammer spur shape may be changed considerably with only a file and polishing papers.
