Last night was the first that stayed above freezing, spring truly has sprung. Pulled the Deere out and ran it long enough to mow the dog's favorite patch. Then re-arranged garage so it's in front. It's getting picked up in am for more, deeper maintenance than I want to get into. Usually buy the tune up kit and dremel the blades, etc.. Want new blades and belts etc this year. Pulled the tiller out and went over it, and tilled the pepper patch too. Then...wasps..Dangerous game in my book. Need more rice loads in 44spec, 44mag n 480.. If they weren't on the house, garage, I'd go with a scorched earth plan. But..wife says no nukes, napalm, etc.. I hate them and they hate me. Wish I had video of cutting a wasp in half in the air, with my 5" Voyager ! Stomped one to death in my basement yesterday.

Then there are these 2" bodied hornets of some kind. Every spring, find 2 in the house. Killed the second one last night. Yikes ! I don't know if they are the queen of some species, or just that big, odd that only find 2 a day or so apart. There are even bigger hornet/yellow jacket marked bees here that are solitary but I believe are boring bees of some sort. They are bigger yet ! the stuff of nightmares for me. To be clear, I would not kill honey bees or bumble bees.

Not a hunting thing, not worthy of rice loads and ballistic solutions, the deer flies and buck flies are now out too. Sigh.. When will it ever snow ?

I hope we don't have them here, they are extremely nasty and aggressive. We have Yellow Jackets here as well, if I get stung its kind of a big deal, I react badly with swelling, stiffness and mucho pain. I kill everyone I can! As above though I leave bumbles and honey bees alone, almost harmless.

Am sure that would work but uses regular 22 birdshot ammo ? For cool factor they should have gone classic SxS style. I'll stick with my home rolled loads in 44spec, 44mag , and 480. By varying distance and angle of impact I can whack critters to mouse size even in the house. Don't even need ear protection. I do still use glasses, due to grit flying and the 2 flying frisbees( wads)of death. Next gen of rice loads will have thin cardboard wads to reduce collateral damage. Stay safe.

Had a friend that had one of those, or something similar. It was great fun shooting grasshoppers on the rise with it.

I have an ally. Have been eyeing a golf ball size and shaped nest growing up in the peak in the back of the house, 2 stories up. Then wasps under the lip of the cupola on top of the garage. Both requiring a ladder and or roof in the dark, type raid. Then, yesterday they are both tore up, pieces on ground or roof. So which of my avian friends may have helped me out ? Have new feathered friends under the lid of my propane tank, Carolina Wrens, Phoebes and more blue bunting, or bluebirds around too. Your guess ? A very bird rich environment, the Grand River is a travel and migration route and rich habitat on it's own, known to birders around here. Just in case..30 more 44spec rice loads have just had there wads sealed with a coat of Elmers glue. Death by fried rice..

I am just fixing on cutting down some more 410 cases for my 45 colt critter ridder loads. The blasted wood bees are pretty thick around the county this year.
I had loaded up some earlier with 8 shot for snake loads for this years prairie dog hunt. Didn't see any snakes, even when we went poking around looking for some. I did get to put the whammy onto a charging ground squirrel though.
I full intended to have some full cylinder length cases made up for my 480 Ruger. Found a use for those short Hornady 45-70 cases! Have to turn down and thin the rims though. The will hold a big pay load, right at a half ounce. Preliminary loads, I will have to drill flash holes as it was locking up the cylinder with a high primer on occasion. Jeff

I do need some further R&D on my use of plastic airsoft BB's for a unleaded pest load. Too much damage for in the house use.

After some goggle-fu, find we have 6 or more possible feathered wasp and hornet nibblers. The lore the merrier ! Kill'em !
