While I don't have lava fields & wide open spaces to wander around in like sixshot,,, we do have places where there are kudzu fields & such that our groundhogs frequent. Thanks to a work schedule,,, I can't spend a lot of time hunting critters,,, but this week,, I did swing past a small kudzu patch a few times. This week we got 3 groundhogs, (rockchucks for the westerners) out of a small spot. I was sure of two kills,,, but one was a bit questionable. he stuck his nose out just far enough for me to see he was there. A fine sight picture,, and he dropped quickly at the shot. Wasn't sure of the hit,,, so I waded through the tangle of vines to see. Yep,,, he was wadded up in the hole he'd just peeked out of. My T/C Contender spoke to him via a 22 mag round.

I have a few deer with a handgun, but have to say that hunting small game with a handgun is about as good as it gets! Growing up on a working farm gave me a lifetime of contacts with small family farms here in the Midwest (SW Ohio). Handguns have been one of my passions since I was a child. Having access to edible small game habitat helped put a LOT of meat on our table over the years.
Since I have cast bullets and reloaded since I was age fourteen, I have mostly used centerfire handguns for the task. Revolvers, mostly, but also used auto pistols and Contenders with great satisfaction.
Here's raising a glass to the O.P.!
