A No.1 in 9.3x74R tempted me recently, but the same thing that drew me to it, is what kept me away. lol I don't need another rifle with hard to find/expensive components. (So I bought a 450/400 instead because I'm stupid. ) The only "metric" I have is Mr. Jurras's 6.5x57R TCR. (at least that I think of as a metric) I've got some MM's and "this"x"that's".

I might be seriously tempted with the 450 / 400 . But the metric that I have and won't ever be without is the 6.5 Creedmoor ;-) . I know , that's kinda cheating.

Just the other day I found a note from him that he sent with it and I was shocked to realize how many years ago it was already. In all that time I've never really taken any good photos of it. One two hunting photos, the rest quick snap shots from when I got it. It's really over due to go hunting again too. I had a S&W 696 I was toying with selling. He offered me a trade, I sent him the revolver and some boot. And then of course the price of 696's nearly tripled! The story of my life. I have two regrets. One, some time later he offered me a barrel in .500 Jurras for it. It was unfinished in the white at the time IIRC, but he offered to finish and blue it first. But his asking price was more than I had in the whole rifle. At the time there was no way I could swing it, so I had to pass. The second is I never asked him for a letter about the gun. But I didn't feel right asking, so I never did. Odd thing is I owned a NIB .243 Win TCR barrel for almost 20 years without owning a rifle. I sold the barrel not long before I came into this. Again, the story of my life. He made the barrel, rust blued. His logo... IIRC the term he used was "employee grade wood" And of course the serial "number" I always thought it odd the T/C was willing to make him this special gun, but didn't bother to pick a frame that had the T/C logo roll marked evenly. lol I believe he said it had accounted for a couple deer and coyotes by him and his grandson(?) Myself I've only got one "swing and a miss" on it. Shot under a doe at about 170 yards. Couldn't figure out how till I chrono'd the load some months later. It was going a LOT slower than I thought. Oops.

UPDATE- Got this fine rifle in. First thing I did was check headspace. The best way Ive found to do this in Ruger #1s is load primers in new cases and fire them. If there is a hint of headspace, the primer will back out.
As expected, this rifle is fine.
Put a Nikon Scope with 5" of eye relief. Recoil isn't bad, but the longer eye relief scopes are more user friendly on Ruger #1s.

Became enamored with the 9.3x62 some 10+ yrs back. The first was the CZ 550 which carried a VX II 2-7 with LR Dot for an Alaskan Grizzly hunt north of Nome. Nice rifle. I then had Redneck over on the Campfire put together a Pre 64 M70 with a 24" (?) PacNor #3 barrel. With either 250 Accubonds or 286 Partitions, VERY accurate; like sub 1/2 moa and occasionally, sub 1/4 moa. Charlie Santoni did all the stock/finish work with an Echols Legend stock. On top, I like the VX3 1.75-6x32 with B&C reticle sitting in Leupold QR mount/rings. I've been playing with a 250 FN cast bullet from one of Veral Smith's LBT molds. With Varget, also, very accurate; like sub moa at 2200 fps. The last is a near duplicate of the 2nd, only in black cerakote and a black Legend stock where as the original has a Midnight Purple (looks like blue) cerakote and OD green Legend stock. .......and the 2nd was recently sold. Just didn't take the time to play with it.

Big fan of the 9,3mm's. Had the chance to buy a No 1 in 9,3x74R but didn't have the cash then. Wish I did.
I shoot the 9,3x57, 9,3x62, and 9,3x64. My newest is a 9,3x57 I built on a Mexican Mauser. Just need to stock it and go shooting. Only other 9,3 that interests me is the 74R. Congrats.

I built it on a Commercial 98 action. Did the same for my .416 Ruger.

Have left hand Zastava mod 70 in 9.3x62 that I shoot cast out of. A NOE 368-286 at 2100fps kills just fine. I see a few of those barrels for sale, and have to wonder how accurate they are. They are listed as in the white, new factory barrels. Priced about the same as an E.R. Shaw barrel, but over a pound lighter, which has me interested. Thanks, Marc
