My LGS has a NIB 1895 in 270 Winchester. I’m the only one that has picked it up in 6 months. It appears to be a grade 1. He offered it to me for $1000. It was traded in to him. I only saw one on GB. Is he he too high or is it a bargain l? What are you guys seeing?

I'm not a Winchester collector. But 1k for a nib95 Winchester in 270 doesn't seem too high to me.

If it had been an ‘06 or a 405 I would have bought it in a minute and took my chances.

If it was an 06 there is only 2 reasons to buy an 06. #1 poaching. #2 an 06 action to make a good rifle from. Something like a 400 Whelen. Now a 405. A guy would ought to snap one of them up in a new York second. A 270 in a 95 Winchester would be a really sweet rifle!!

I always wanted a 30-30 in a single shot. About the only one I could afford was a NEF, preferably used. I found one in a gun shop, but when i got it home I looked it over and it had a 30-30 barrel on a shotgun frame, so I took it back annd ad paid the difference on a Marlin lever action. I would probably been better off getting one in 308, but I already have 30-30 brass. I would have liked to had a Savage 340. Back in the mid 60"s my dad had a FFLa friend had a 340 in 30-30 and I sent it to P.O.ackley to re chamber it in 30-30 Ackley improved. It shot great and you could reload it vith pointed bullets. Ron

The 1895’s in 270 were not very popular. USRAC had a bunch sent back to Japan for conversion to 405. They may end up being worth something someday. The only reason I would buy one is to convert it to 9.3x62, or 400 Whelen.

Now there is one that never crossed my mind, but a 9.3x62 in a model 95 would be pretty nice.
