I have been kicking around the idea of getting a big bore barrel for my Encore for a while, and today came up with the idea of getting one in 45-100 and using .458 win mag load data for it. I much prefer loading/extraction of non-belted cartridges in my Encore. Any thoughts?

I think the rim will be an advantage in extraction. As far as the belt I can take it or leave it I am not sure that you will pick up any capacity in terms of a larger diameter you can easily look up case diameters and see if there is a difference.
Modern 45 100 brass is very strong I use a 45 RCBS basic case in my 338 wildcat.
I would compare 45-100 case capacity to the 458 you can use water. You may also want to start with a 45/70 load and work your way up watching for pressure signs. My assumption is that you could math 458 ballistics at a lower pressure. BUT I would approach it carefully.
