I was invited to hunt an area south of San Antonio a couple weeks ago and got to put some of the gear to use. The coyote fell to the FA 44 mag in an easy 30 yard shot, the rabbit to a 6.5 TCU contender, and the hog I made a marginal decision to shoot with my 7-08. The pig ran off three young bucks under a feeder and was facing me as I shot him from an elevated blind at 100 yards. I was about two inches to the left of my POA so instead of hitting his spine at the base of the neck/shoulder I took out a lung and liver. Dropped on the spot, flailed, then got up and bolted. We found him in the riverbed gasping and I had my buddy finish him with a 44 special to the head though it wasn't necessary. The 140 grain ballistic tip didn't exit and I couldn't find fragments- there was no blood trail because of the lack of exit wound. We were lucky to find the hog in the cactus, grass, and brush. Should've used a revolver with a nice cast bullet! That shoulder hide is no joke. Just for kicks, I'm curious to see what y'all think the hog weighs. I'm bad at judging these things, but we did throw it up on a scale so it's verified.

Great hunt, congrats on the kills!
If I had to guess, and it's a wild one since I've never hunted hogs before, I'd say it's around the 190lbs mark.
Also wonderful rifle! I love the M77 RSI's!

170 lbs. Thankful to a couple of good friends for tying a tow rope to him and dragging him up a steep muddy river bank for me.

Great job all around, congratulations! I would have guessed a little bigger than that but I haven't killed very many feral hogs. Nice cutters on him. Must have been pretty close to Runge.

Nice little hog. Lots of fun. I like Safari's such as that.

Dick, it was south of Tilden, so not too far from Runge. I suspect it's similar country.
Squigz, that rifle is really growing on me. It came to me with a standard (non RSI) stock and looked great with the short slim barrel and front sight band and base. I picked up the RSI stock and cap cheap and put it back to original thinking I might sell it since they only made 250 of them and they bring pretty decent money, but after putting in a Timney trigger and mounting that Zeiss Conquest it's a hard gun to leave in the safe. My only wish is that it had a tang safety instead of wing safety, but that's a minor point for what is a nice carrying and shooting rifle.
