...That said...last year I did happen to ask one of the Ruger VPs about the possibility of having Ruger legitimize the .41 Special and bringing out a GP100 and/or mid-frame FT...all he would say was "It is being looked at"...so maybe... You look what Ruger has done keeping the .41 Magnum alive and now having 10mm DA and SA revolvers...so it may happen one day. Send those messages to the President...they listen... Bob I was/am a bit skeptical of it, but emailed the CEO a year or 2 ago & said that I'd love to see an 8-shot .357 Redhawk, a 5-shot .480 single action & a stainless steel .41Mag Blackhawk. Who knew? I'd love to give the .41 Special a go & have been seriously thinking about getting a 6" full lug, stainless GP-100 to send off to Mr. Clements for conversion to .41Special. Dunno how commercially successful the round would be, as there are already all kindsa guns currently available in chamberings that cover the same/very similar territory, but I'd be in for one. That said, I reload, so ammo availability is a non-issue for me.

I agree, but I’d sure like to be able to start with a factory gun, instead of the cost of a donor and the cost of rebarrel and rechamber. It's about the least expensive build on probably the least expensive base gun you can buy, especially in a single action. ...unless you start with an OM Single Six!!!!🤑🤑🤑🤑 tim

Keep emailing cuz I think they’re listening and buy some lotto tickets

The harsh reality is that if you want one you're going to have to suck it up like the rest of us... It's about the least expensive build on probably the least expensive base gun you can buy, especially in a single action. So true, I need to stop hoping, wishing, and bellyaching and just get one done. Had an OM 357 I traded last year that would have been perfect.

Keep your eyes open on gunbroker or post a WTB add on the Ruger Forum and see if somebody has a .41 take off barrel. That will save you some too. Remember....it ends up saving you $$ in many cases to buy the best condition base gun you can afford. There's a great OM .357 on the Ruger forum right now that is the perfect candidate....

When Bill Ruger was running things, I would write suggestions and get back a nice letter, "Thank you very much for your your suggestions, but that is not under consideration at this time".
After Bill was gone the letter changed to "Thank you for your suggestion. It has been forwarded to our product development staff for consideration".
I once sent a letter with eight suggestions. Over the next two years I saw seven of them come to be. One was I pointing out that gunsmiths were making a million drilling and tapping Ruger Standard Model and MKII semi-auto .22s as many shooters were now using optics. Ruger shortly thereafter starting D&Ting the MKII or III I can't remember which. I also pointed out that the small steel 3/8" dovetail scope base provided with the 10/22 was a "waste of natural resources" as the banging of the semi-auto bolt quickly loosened the clamps of the mounts and for $2.00 they could provide the Weaver base that everyone was using...and sure enough within a year the old steel base was gone and the new aluminum base has more slots than the Weaver and a provision for 3/8" doverdail rings also...
So they do listen...now that Bill is gone...

Ordered a lipseys 6” unfluted gp-100 and sent it off to Clements’s for the 41 special treatment. I struggled a bit of having the barrel shortened, but decided to leave it and slab the sides. Now I’m eyeing a Henry lever gun in 41 mag , to even out the weight . Hand gun on right hip ,lever in left hand . Perfect!

Wow Crazycarl, the hat trick trifecta of wishes granted right there. Keep emailing cuz I think they’re listening and buy some lotto tickets LOL! I wish. My luck trends toward the bad- I'm chalking it up to happy coincidence. That said, it couldn't hurt to email & ask for a .41Special GP-100, a .357Max SBH Hunter & a 10.5" .41Mag SBH. Not gonna hold my breath, tho. Cc that’s exactly what I did right after Christmas! Ordered a lipseys 6” unfluted gp-100 and sent it off to Clements’s for the 41 special treatment. Hand gun on right hip ,lever in left hand . Perfect! That is the exact gun I'm wanting. Don't think I'll slab the barrel, as I really like the weight & balance of the 6" full lug guns. Definitely get the .41 Henry. I've got the 16.5" carbine & it is a hoot. Very nice little gun & great shooter. SMOOTH action.
