Been contemplating an AR build, but being me I can't do anything normal... The idea was a rugged, lightweight semi-auto that could handle any critter that walks the continent. So combine a Fightlight SCR lower with a 16" .458 SOCOM upper with a full-length handguard and a flash-can. Add a nice, rugged optic and a sling and this just might fit the bill. A ten-round AR Magazine will hold 5-6 rounds of .458. Oh, and be cool. Can't forget the cool part.

Not for me but it is different. If it went kind of that direction it would be the KelTec shotgun with all the feed tubes

Interesting idea.
I’m in the middle of a .308 AR build and I’ve been debating if I should start gathering parts for a second. This gives me another set of ideas. Hmmmm...

I keep coming back to this and giving it more thought. One of the reviews I read mentioned that if you keep your hand in the firing position while cycling the charging handle it can be a knuckle buster. A side charger would solve that problem IF the lower is compatible with one. I think I need to email them and ask.

I'm not so sure a 458 socom is really a tactical weapon. I always charge an AR with my shooting hand. Tinker; I think that is a cool looking rifle. Do a white or tan camo job on it and no one will be able to say that you have a "black" rifle. :-)

Reminds me of a modern day remington model 8.
Great out of the box thinking:)

I hafta wonder how well it handles recoil without the traditional buffer & spring. Maybe a non-issue on a .223 or .300blk, but that .458Socom might thump just a bit.

I've not been aware of this scr format. Now I can't get it out of my head! As a CT resident, it makes sense. And I like the versitility it can provide. Might have another project to add to my 2018 list...

I've also not seen a traditional stock on an AR type rifle... I had built a P Dogging AR back in the early 80's put a flat top on... long before they were common & a 20X scope, a compensator replaced the flash hider on the match barrel... I could watch my hits on doggies our 200-400 yards, but, the spring noise radiating out of the stock, when I had cheek weld for the scope drove me nuts, & is a good percentage of the reason I got rid of it... would like to see this one in person... looking forward to more...
