I ordered this gun specifically for a 5 shot 45 Colt project and the dealer made sure the necessary clearance was there between the serial number and the cylinder window. A great gun with lousy factory grip fitting but a perfect base gun for a custom. www.rugerforum.com/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=41&t=265300See I told you doubters I was done starting custom projects and you didn't believe me! This and the 41 that just moved are the last base guns in the safe!

Base guns are easy to come by. You aren’t fooling us. I have a few stashed.

It isn’t the lack of base guns, it’s the holes that remain to be filled seemed to have shrunken to a level that I can live with. Must be age and that sneaking up to career change time.

If all goes as planned the big trucks will move out at the end of this year. After 21+ years it will be nice not to have guys coming in each morning then seeing the pump trucks roll out for the day then back in at the end of the day. I'm looking forward to the office phone ringing in someone else's house for a change. All I'll have to do is find a new job then!

You can be a middle man for custom builds......
Have fella's tell you what they want and have the gun built for them.
I think the smiths would enjoy talking to a few less folks every day....

Have you stumbled across any of those birds head USFA hammers as you clean things up?

I DID but it is on a Double Eagle! Pretty spendy but you get the rest of the gun for free!

Bid and forget about it for a week or so and see what happens. Every once in awhile a guy gets lucky.

Using that logic, a thousand dollar hammer is a good deal. I just don’t think it will stay there for the next 13 days.
