What I'd do is call Rob Rowan and ask him.
Just a little adage..
I had an ironwood scale on a knife handle crack around the pin. I wrote to the maker and asked him if he would fix it for me.
I had no problem paying for the fix and told him so.
He told me to squirt some super glue into the crack and let it run into the void.
I just about had a fit.....
He said that's what he would do.
I still have the knife and haven't fixed the grip scale but that's what he told me.
Somebody else will chime in soon......
Oh, the knife maker was a little 'ole guy from Arkansas named Jerry Fisk....
Good luck!

I’d get ahold of Zane at Lone Star grips or Rob Rowen custom grips and ask about epoxy suggestions, epoxy the cracks, sand them smooth then remove the spacer and install hardware for your old Ruger. Better yet, send them and the gripframe to them and pay them to repair and set them up for a Ruger.

I'm not sure those grips will fit a blackhawk will they?
I thought the Colt grip frame was smaller....for some reason...
Either of those guys will fix ya' up....

well thank u both...i was thinking this was a lost cause...well the original blackhawk had the XR3 frame which is almost the same exact size with just a few modification...Colt grips will fit...the Ruger has the pin holes lower at the bottom and the Ruger also has the cuts at the top of the grip...small almost 30 degree slots at the top near the medallions....i have always loved custom grips and this 59 is my first SAA since my first SAA i got when i was 9 or 10 i think...a NM Blackhawk 357 stainless 4-5/8"....so it needs some nice custom grips...truly appreciate all the help...God Bless,John well i have a great friend who does all of my grips...u might know his work...he is SwampRat on Colt Forums....i just got a message from him too...

If those came off a Colt SAA then they can be worked over to fit the XR-3 Ruger flat top style grip frame. I've never passed muster on the Colt forum so I haven't heard of your friend but if grip making is his thing then he should be able to help you out.

sheep horn is a mighty tough material so as long as the cracks don't go through the locating pin hole they shouldn't be an issue. if you wanted to patch them up though you can use super glue or a clear epoxy. I normally use Devcon 5 minute clear epoxy when fixing flaws in sheep horn. you can usually find it at Lowes or home depot.
also I could be wrong on this but my first impression was those are Merino sheep horn, not Dall. it may just be the lighting in the pics but most of the Dall horn grips I've seen were not that dark. I only mention this because it might have some bearing on what you paid for them.

Super glue is the glue. But be sure to tape off the area around the crack. One to correct a spill and two to prevent overrun when filling the crack. If you choose to polish the grip it will need to be done with white polish. Or you can lightly sand with 2000 gritt and mineral oil. Then turn paper over to the paper only side and use it to polish the horn.

well maybe the best question i can ask is this...are they worth fixing and what would they worth in the end?....and if they are Merino sheep....is that good or bad?....i apologize for knowing nothing about Horn grips.they are a almost translucent color...they seem to have yellowed as well...not sure if that is from age or have been artifically aged....they came off a gen 1 colt saa...a good friend got it and was not going to use these....he has offered to do a full refund and allow me to send these back....i really love the grips and think they have some potential....but if they are going to be a big headache or going to come apart when i shoot my Ruger Flat Top 44 mag....not worth it...i was going to add original ruger blackbird medallions and grip hardware too...i want to thank all of u for the great information....God Bless,John

well Merino is a domesticated sheep so their horn is fairly easy to come by compared to Dall sheep horn. because of that Merino grips are less valuable than Dall. that doesn't mean they're worthless though. price varies from maker to maker but most usually sell between $200-$300.
since the maker is unknown on this set you would have to go by how well they're made. judging from the pics they appear to have nice sharp corners and they look like they're shaped fairly evenly though they could use a good sanding and buffing. as is i'd price them at $175.
if you could find an XR3 grip that they were slightly oversized on, fit them to that frame, sanded and then buffed them out they'd be worth $250 plus whatever you wanted to price the frame at.
