I had my old contender with a Fox River Barrel in 22 hornet sitting in the corner of my gun room for years. This barrel was one of the last barrels to come out of the Fox River Custom shop before TC was bought out and it has always shot really well.
What I never liked about it was the small for-end. Most of by shooting with this has been off of a bench or off of sandbags when ground hog hunting; so I would always have the gun rolling unless id put a shirt down. Even then it was very hold sensitive so it had its glass stripped years ago and it went by the side.
Fast forward until I found Tony's Forends and Grips - www.tonysforendsandgrips.net/price-list/
He makes a 3" wide forend - just what I was looking for.
Going to take it out tomorrow for some testing. Im sure with the new forend the gun should be really consistent. The gun would should 1/2 moa @ 100 yards with 40 gr v max regularly.

That looks nice... I have a couple my FIL made out of Walnut 2 X 4 so it's taller & square on the bottom... BTW... I'm both a Contender fan, & a Hornet fan myself

Love Contender Carbines and I'm not a fan of the flat bottomed forends for offhand shooting, but they can't be beat from a rest.
Mine wears the same Tony stock set but with a narrower forend that's around 2 inches which is a good compromise for me.
