Or is it just chemical coloring?
Saw one over the weekend that looked really nice but I don't know if it's actual case hardening or just the chemical coloring.
Anybody know for sure?

I have one of those, its beautiful and shoots great, but I don't know for sure about its colors. I just assumed they are something other than bone and charcoal. I think the answer lie in that often you will see where a Uberti or other such gun was sent out for US case colors, meaning I think that theirs are not the real McCoy.

I had heard they were doing their revolvers with a torch... but no proof or for that matter even remember where I heard that...

No issues with or warnings about solvents or other cleaners? Opinions seem split and it also seems to depend on when the rifles in question were manufactured.

Thanks! Thinking about another .357 lever to go with the Marlin. Not sure if I want to go 1892 or 1873...
