Amax or V max?
Got some ladder loads put together for a couple of 204's. Pretty much all the available non custom 32-40 grain bullets. Jeff

I have a Remington 700 204 Ruger, but it’s a stock Varmint contour barrel and I’ve only tried the 32s in factory loads. It’s very accurate but running about 200 fps slower than what I expected. Every indication is the factory 1/12” barrel won’t stabilize the 40’s. I’d love to hear different....

Fermin, reading more on the 204. Some of the 12 twist will some won't. From chasing this cartridge around, it seems some are marked 1-12, yet are about 1-11 1/2. Most all will shoot the 39SBK, some may or may not play well with the 40 V max. Then other articles will mention the 40's shoot and the 39's don't. I believe it falls on ones definition of "accuracy". What one deems excellent others would throw to the curb and not look back.
Powders. 10X seemed to be the best, yet they will turn around and say to watch temp swings. I am about as hard headed as they come, but will hop on to the wagon of extreme powders. Darn sure nice to work up one when its cold and shoot when it's hot, or vice versa.
Have 300 rounds of screaming 22-250 loads, but it better be below 40 degrees. Learned my lesson.
To the OP, I suggest trying a few "flavors". I had the time and loaded a lot of ladders for the 17 Remington and 204 Ruger.
I may need professional help. Have become infatuated with big bore revolvers and pip squeak rifles.
Jeff
