Dang stripped lowers 3/$100. Loaded up my cart at Brownells with AR parts. Spied a 24 inch 6.5 Grendel complete upper at Joe Bobs. Now for dies and brass..

Its a fine little cartridge. I have it in a 24" TC Carbine and 13" TC Pistol. Both G2 Contenders.

What mags does the Grendel use? 7.62×39 ?

Magazine? Hadn't thought about that hard. Most likely a slightly modified 556 case. It doesn't have that funky tapered case shape of the 7.62x39 to deal with.

I just put one of the CZ 527's on lay a way. Brass and dies are on their way.

If I would ever stop playing with doctored up revolvers I want to build a 6.5 Grendel upper for my Colt 6920. Keep the stock upper with the Eotech and light and the Grendel for playing with. Luckily I know a few guys that play in the AR sandbox with a high degree of regularity so I am sure they can point me in the right direction.

I have picked up my first overwatch shortly after they came out.....10+++ years ago. Also built one with a side charge handle. Both are extremely efficient little guns and both my kids have been very successful hunting deer with them. Great non recoiling hammer.
They require Specific Grendel mags.

When I was putting mine together some years back I REALLY wanted a longer barrel, but at the time 20" and longer barrels were a LOT more money than the 16" ones, like a couple hundred bucks more. I also knew that in reality I'd probably never shoot it very far. It's worked out well, as all my hunting now days in thick woods stuff, so the shorter barrel works well. I love single shot rifles. I love hunting with old rifles. I like traditional old hunting rifles. Even hunting with muzzle loaders and flintlocks during the regular gun season. So I'm almost embarrassed by how much I've grown to enjoy hunting with an AR. I feel such shame. I use 5 and 10 rounds Grendel specific mags.

The follower is different on a Grendel mag compared to a 5.56mag, so Grendel specific is the way to go for headache free operation. Not that a normal mag won’t work, just that you never know when it will stop working.

Did you get a chance to blood that thing?

I get all my mags from Alex Arms. In fact, a shipment to my house two days before Thanksgiving of new mags sent a fellow to jail for a day as he decided to steal them from my porch while I was home. Quick call to PD and they had him picked up and my mags back to me within 15 mins. Hahahaha
