Just bought this on line today, and it will ship out tomorrow. Can't wait till it gets here. I've always wanted a Freedom Arms, but they were out of my price range. After talking with the owner for a while on the phone, I was able to get the price where I wanted it, and made the deal. Though it's not the exact model I was hoping for, I wasn't going to pass up a great deal. I plan on removing the Scope and base and get a rear sight, fiber optic front sight, and some nice grips. Anyone want to trade a rear sight for my scope base?

Take your time fetching in the irons. Freedom Arms offers four basic setups, Premier, Filed Grade, an express arrangement or fiberoptic for either, and the Iron Sight Gun works silhouette. Adjustments on the ISGW are by far the most precise, with a more precise sight picture, but it is bulkier. FA can guide you to matching front sight height to caliber and barrel length. You may be reluctant to part with it once you’ve shot the Leupold/Leupold arrangement. Makes for less fatigue in testing loads. Shoot it offhand as well. 2x is a practical offhand magnification. David Bradshaw I guess it will depend on how it feels and balances, but most of my shots are under 50yds, in heavy woods, so the scope just seems bulky to me.

Congratulations! You will never be the same.
There are a few grip makers that visit this site if you ever want to change out those rubber grips.

Good for you! Be warned they tend to multiply. I have been keeping an eye out for a 41 magnum myself. Jeff

That's a nice set-up, my first FA was a real eye opener to what a SA revolver can be. You will not be disappointed!

Very nice! I have to agree, my very first FA was a field grade 7.5" with open sights, and the T'SOB mount and rings. like you I prefer open sights and back then could use em,,, I still prefer em but need good light to use em. What Mr. Bradshaw suggested I would agree with. I am sure you will have a better appreciation when you see what this gun can do at 100 yards with that scope, it will be a lot better than with the naked eye.
The other good thing about the scope is working up loads, I would keep the scope and mount for developing loads even if you never want to hunt past 50 yards with open sights. For me anyways I was much more confident the loads I worked up and verified using the scope, then I knew if there was an issue with my shot where that issue originated,,,,,, aand I agree, it's going to be awful hard to keep from adding more to the cave,, they are addicting!

I got my first a few months back and now it has a younger smaller brother. Both FA83's with one a 44 the smaller a 357. Bradshaw made a very good point about shooting and enjoying it first. You may just leave it the way it now.
One of mine has a 4× Leupold and the other has a Vortex Venom. My eyes aren't what they were even a few years back. I personally believe that an optic allows one to wring the utmost accuracy potential from the gun.
Agreed on changing the grips but that's my opinion. Every single action I own wears custom grips and I wouldn't have it any other way. Well the 2 FA83's wear FA black micarta but they consider it an option so that counts for custom don't it?

I agree about the Black Micarta from FA, I sent my 6" Premier back that came with the rosewood and had the Black Micarta fit to it,,, they are no doubt as nice as any custom makers, they look like they were painted on the grip frame, absolutely perfect fit, and a little cheaper than the top customs would cost.

I like the black micarta from FA. Makes a classy gun even better.
