A bit back I picked up a 1949-vintage Detective Special in .32 Colt New Police. I had it out to the range yesterday and this is rapidly on its way to becoming my favorite snubbie. Recoil is mild even with relatively snappy loads, the trigger is phenomenal and accuracy is excellent- here's a seven-yard rapid-fire target- ...and here's a ten-yard rapid-fire target- I usually advocate service-caliber guns with modern defensive ammo, but my confidence in my ability to put these little pills where I want them in a hurry means I wouldn't hesitate to use this as a carry-piece!

Good looking gun that shoots great would be hard to not be fond of. It would be nice to know the history of that revolver

I never thought I'd say this, but even the Franzite grips are growing on me; they're part of the period-character of the gun and I have to admit the give excellent traction.

Sweet old gun sir. I am envious of the hammer shroud. I wish my Detective special had that. John

A few of those in the nose should do at least as well as a 22LR.... Close enough, and the muzzle blast adds to it.
